Like many first-year teachers, I struggled to find resources for my class. The textbook at times was just too much information and at other times lacked the information necessary for my students to be successful. I searched every Teacher Supply Store I could find for resources. Once again, I struggled to find what I needed for my students. Almost every single Social Studies resource I found was for the elementary level. The secondary students seemed to have been left behind by the major publishing companies. It was not long before I was making my own lessons. With each new lesson I created, my students were increasingly successful. I knew that I had to share what I had learned with other teachers who I know were in the same position as I had previously been.

During my 4th year of teaching, I took the leap and began my Teachers Pay Teachers store for High School Social Studies products. In my 6th year of teaching, I began the largest project I have to date, my U.S. History Post Reconstruction Graphic Study Guide. I was fed up with my students not having a textbook that was quick and easy to read while at the same time addressing the needs of my special education and ELL/ESL students. It took 13 months to research, write, and organize commissioned artwork to complete this valuable resources.
