Like many first year teachers, I quickly discovered how difficult it could be to find quality resources designed specifically for secondary Social Studies classrooms. The textbook often presented too much information at once, while at other times it left out important content my students needed to be successful. I searched teacher supply stores, websites, and catalogs, but I continued to run into the same problem: most Social Studies resources were created for the elementary level. Secondary students and their teachers seemed to have been largely overlooked.
Before long, I began creating my own lessons and classroom resources. As I developed materials that were more focused, engaging, and accessible, I saw my students become increasingly successful. That experience inspired me to begin sharing my resources with other teachers who were facing many of the same challenges.
During my fourth year of teaching, I took the leap and opened Lawshe Education on Teachers Pay Teachers, with a focus on high school Social Studies resources.
Today, Lawshe Education is built around one goal: creating engaging, effective, and practical Social Studies resources for real classrooms.
My resources are designed primarily for high school Social Studies, although many can also be adapted for other grade levels. Each resource is created with classroom use in mind and is designed to help teachers make challenging historical content more accessible to their students.
